Asus Zenfone 2 Review, Newer and More RAM

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML smartphone has a larger and improved displays, faster processors, newer Android version and more RAM. The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML is design-wise, the Asus Zenfone 2 has a whole-plastic built.

The front side of the smartphone is quite similar to the original Zenfone smartphones, while its rear has an all-new design that seems to be inspired by flagship smartphones of HTC and LG.

The rear side of the Asus Zenfone 2 is made of plastic but there is a fuax brushed steel finish. Asus has provided a volume rocker on the rear to enhance ergonomics and thus there is no control on left and right of the smartphone.

Once the rear panel is removed, the back side of the Asus Zenfone 2 shows two SIM card slots and a microSD card slot. The non-removable battery pack is also available on the back side.

The bottom side of the Zenfone 2 has a primary microphone and a microUSB port, while the top side has a secondary microphone, power/lock key and a 3.5mm jack. The front side has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, large display panel and a secondary camera sensor. The back side has a primary camera sensor with dual-LED (dual-tone) flash.

On the specification front, the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML has a 5.5-inch display and is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 chipset that has a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU, PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB of RAM. There is up to 128GB on-board storage along with microSD card support for expansion up to 128GB.

The Asus Zenfone 2 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box with Zen UI on top. The proprietary interface has several tweaks over stock Android and Google’s Material Design language is also available to enhance user experience.

In terms of telephony, Asus has provided dual-SIM card support with 4G LTE on one SIM and 2G on the other SIM.

The smartphone has a smart dialler to let users easily dial a number and there is a proprietary messaging app for texting along with Asus keyboard support.

The large-size display of the Asus Zenfone 2 makes it easy to type long messages as well as help in surfing websites on desktop mode and watching videos on full screen.

The display of the Asus Zenfone 2 has full-HD (1080p) resolution that offers impressive color production and has fair amount of brightness to show on-screen content even under direct sunlight. Its touch responsiveness is also quite decent.

For capturing pictures and recording videos, the Asus Zenfone 2 has a 13-megapixel camera sensor on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera sensor on the front.

There is PixelMaster technology to offer an enhanced image-taking experience and there is dual-tone (dual-LED) flash to provide enough lightening even in dark shots.

Besides, the smartphone has several preloaded features to let users easily capture their best shots.

Asus has provided a 3,000mAh battery on the Asus Zenfone 2 that easily delivers a day backup on a single charge. The smartphone also has fast charging support to let users charge 60 percent of the battery capacity in 40 minutes span.

Overall, the Asus Zenfone 2 seems to be a great deal under mid-range price segment. Though it is a bit large in size due to its 5.5-inch display, we have not found a single issue in terms of its usability and performance of the smartphone.
